Break-in at AgMedica

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a break-in at a medical marijuana facility in Chatham.

Police said they made the arrest after responding to a break and enter call at AgMedica Bioscience Inc. on Riverview Drive Monday afternoon.

Officers said during their investigation, they were provided with some video surveillance that showed a man entering the property early Monday morning through a hole in the fence at the facility.

Police were able to identify a suspect in connection with the case and arrested him Wednesday morning.

He was charged with break and enter and taken to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Trio of thefts in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they investigate three separate thefts in Wallaceburg that all took place earlier this week.

Police said in the first case, someone broke into a shed on Bruce Street sometime between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday and took off with a power washer, an electric chainsaw, some electric clippers, and some frozen meat.

In the second case, someone broke into a fenced compound on Gillard Street sometime between 10 a.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday and stole batteries and an airbag device used to overturn vehicles from a tow truck.

In the third case, someone broke into a fenced compound at ThruFlow Inc on Gillard Street and stole a cell phone and some keys from a parked truck.

Stolen sign recovered

Chatham-Kent police are thanking the public for their help to recover a sign that was stolen from Postma Fitness in Blenheim.

Police said it was taken sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning from the sidewalk in front of the business on Talbot Street West, but it was returned late Wednesday afternoon "due to the power of social media".

Officers said no further police action will be taken "as per the owner's wishes."

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
