After several days of weather that may have made many people in the area feel like spring was upon us, a reminder is on the way that winter isn't over yet.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for southwestern Ontario, including London and Middlesex County, Elgin County, Oxford County, Chatham-Kent, and Windsor-Essex.
The weather agency said a system known as a Texas Low is expected to sweep into the region on Wednesday, bringing snow and frigid air.
"There remains much uncertainty regarding the track of this low, but total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres are possible by Thursday morning," the advisory said.
Temperatures are expected to rise above the freezing mark during the day on Wednesday, which could mean that the precipitation will be in the form of rain before temperatures plummet Wednesday night. According to forecasters, that's when we'll start to see snowfall that could be heavy at times. Strong winds are also expected to cause blowing snow.
Environment Canada said drivers should be prepared for poor driving conditions.
