Wellington County have announced their libraries will begin offering limited services following the Victoria Day long weekend during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Phase 1 in the library's abbreviated services will be patrons returning library materials to the library drop off bins beginning Tuesday, May 19th. All materials that are returned will be cleaned and stored for 72 hours for safety, and when the inventory is deemed safe, the library will begin letting patrons place holds on materials for curbside pickups.
The second step will be allowing patrons to do curbside pickups at the library locations, and the library will notify patrons when that process can begin. Also, all branches will be providing a library fine amnesty, which will waive all fines for the first month of service. However, any damaged or lost materials will need to be discussed with library staff.
“Wellington County Library staff are working hard to retrieve borrowed items so we can begin our curbside pick-up service,” said Warden Kelly Linton. “We are excited to offer this temporary service to our residents while our branches remain closed to the public under the provincial order.”
“The Library will continue to keep everyone informed as decisions are made and plans confirmed,” said Mary Lloyd, Information, Heritage and Seniors Committee Chair. “We miss our patrons and want to ensure they are enjoying Wellington County’s digital resources and services while staying healthy.”
