After three days of scorching heat, parts of southwestern Ontario may have cooled down after some wet weather.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for London-Middlesex, Elgin County, Oxford County, and Chatham-Kent warning the areas could see between 20 to 40 millimetres of rainfall by Thursday night. However, the special weather statement ended around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
The soggy conditions were the result of the remnants of tropical depression Bertha, which is moving north from Ohio, crossing Lake Erie and western sections of Lake Ontario Thursday morning.
"There is still uncertainty about which area will receive the highest amount of rain however rainfall warnings may be issued." the national weather agency said in a statement.
More rain is in the forecast for Friday, with another 10 millimetres possible. Sunshine and highs in the mid-teens to low 20s return for the weekend.
A heat warning that had been in effect across southwestern Ontario since Monday, ended just after midnight on Thursday.
