Petrolia officials are asking the public for input as they consider making masks mandatory in indoor public spaces.
Emergency Management Coordinator Jay Arns, who is also the town's fire chief and director of protective services, said they've received several letters, e-mails, and inquiries on the issue.
He's inviting residents and business owners to fill out a short survey before council discusses a possible bylaw at its August 10 meeting.
"The survey's going to get some public feedback and input to help determine if it's a good decision or a bad decision," said Arns. "It's available on our websites and on our Facebook sites. We'll have it set up manually at town hall for anybody without internet access if they wish to take part in a survey."
He said they're also developing a short, educational video on how to safely wear a mask.
"We're strong believers in educating and to make everyone, or ask everyone, to wear a mask inside... we'll educate everyone on how to don and doff PPE [personal protective equipment] and how to wear it correctly."
The survey is available until Thursday, August 6 at 10 a.m. and the results will be included on the August 10 regular council agenda.
