The Middlesex London Health Unit reported a single new case of the novel coronavirus on Sunday.
The latest case brings the total number of confirmed cases for London-Middlesex to 683. In the last 24 hours, three more cases have been resolved, and the death toll remained unchanged at 57.
Over the weekend, Southwestern Public Health confirmed 10 new cases of COVID-19 between Elgin and Oxford counties. Seven new cases were confirmed on Saturday, and an additional three on Sunday. An employee at a Woodstock long-term care home was among the newly confirmed cases. The health unit notified Woodingford Lodge about the positive test result on Sunday night. As a result, all new admissions to the home have been suspended and visitors will no longer be allowed. All residents on the infected employee's wing have also been placed in isolation.
Ontario confirmed 79 new cases on Sunday, a 0.2 per cent increase from Saturday. The province has now had a full week of reporting fewer than 100 cases.
According to Ontario Health Minister, Christine Elliot, 30 of the province's 34 public health units are reporting fewer than five cases, with 18 of them reporting no new cases. A total of 36,279 cases have been resolved since the pandemic began, but two new deaths were announced on Sunday, bringing Ontario's death toll up to 2,786.
