CK wants to improve life for immigrants

Chatham-Kent wants to hear from immigrants and is launching its first-ever immigration survey.

Manager of Community Attraction and Promotion Audrey Ansell said the survey is an opportunity for all immigrant newcomers to have their voices heard and to help ensure that Chatham-Kent remains a welcoming community for all residents. Ansell said results from the survey will help the municipality, community stakeholders, and service providers understand the needs of immigrants in Chatham-Kent and work towards addressing those needs.

“In 2016, Chatham-Kent was designated as Canada’s First Welcoming Community by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Chatham-Kent prides itself on being a welcoming community for all immigrant newcomers that choose to settle here. The findings from this inaugural survey will help us to ensure we continue to work towards making a welcoming community for all,” said Ansell.

Project Coordinator of the Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership Jason Stubitz added the survey is open to anyone that immigrated to Canada and currently resides in Chatham-Kent.

"Whether you arrived in Chatham-Kent yesterday or 45 years ago, we want to hear your feedback on your experiences in the community,” Stubitz said.

Visit www.letstalkchatham-kent.ca/chatham-kent-immigration-survey to complete the survey by Monday, December 28, 2020. The survey is open to individuals 16 years of age or older and is available in English, French, Arabic, Spanish and Low German. Help is available at cklip@chatham-kent.ca for those who need it to access or to complete the survey in additional languages.
