London emergency services show support for patients and healthcare workers

London's emergency services rallied together at University Hospital on Sunday afternoon in support of patients and healthcare workers.

Crews of firefighters, paramedics, and police officers were seen with their lights and sirens on in procession out front of the hospital's main entrance to express gratitude and encouragement for the staff and patients amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at University Hospital. Back in April, London's emergency crews circled all four of the city's hospitals to show support to healthcare workers during the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The outbreak at University Hospital, which began in late November, has spread through seven units within the facility. On Sunday, the London Health Sciences Center said 70 patients have tested positive for the virus linked with the outbreak, along with 56 staff, and healthcare providers. Additionally, 13 people have died as a result of the outbreak.

Last week, University Hospital announced that it has postponed all outpatient services, and non-urgent surgeries with the exception of urgent and emergency appointments, procedures, and diagnostic services while they work to contain the outbreak.
