Police break up house parties that broke COVID-19 rules

Four London women are facing charges under the Reopening Ontario Act after allegedly hosting parties that violated current COVID-19 restrictions.

London police were contacted about more than 20 people gathering inside of a home on Singleton Avenue on Saturday night. When officers arrived, they found 11 people in attendance, six more than is permitted under provincial limits.

London-Middlesex is currently under the red-control level of Ontario's COVID-19 Response Framework. Under the red tier of the five level colour system, indoor social gatherings are capped at five people. Outdoor gatherings are limited to 25.

A 44-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman, both from London, are charged with hosting an indoor gathering exceeding provincial guidelines and participating in an indoor gathering exceeding provincial guidelines.

Police were also called Saturday night to a home on Mt. Pleasant Avenue, where more than 30 people were reportedly inside. Two 19-year-old women are charged with hosting an indoor gathering exceeding provincial guidelines and participating in an indoor gathering exceeding provincial guidelines.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
