A drive-in style light show held at the Chatham Armoury has raised over $15,000 to help the local homeless community.
Organizers behind The Armoury In Lights announced fundraising totals over social media on Tuesday.
Funds were split between two programs, $10,007 was donated to NeighbourLink Indwell Supportive Housing Project and $5,003 was donated to a new grassroots organization called Jeffrey’s Journey. The organization helps vulnerable individuals directly by providing food, clothing, medical supplies, shelter, and friendship.
Despite having to alter this year's display to accommodate for COVID-19 safety precautions, the amount raised surpassed last year's total. The group behind the show in 2019 donated over $10,000 to four different local charities.
Light displays at the Armoury ran three shows a night this year from December 14 through December 20, where attendees enjoyed the event from the comfort and safety of their own vehicles.
