There are 10 long-term care and retirement facilities reporting COVID-19 infections now as the surge in cases continues in Sarnia-Lambton.
In its daily update Monday, Lambton Public Health reported another daily high of 85 new confirmed cases, for a total of 1,309 since the end of March.
The number of resolved cases increased by 51 to 1,057, putting the active case count at 224, up 34 since Sunday.
The local health agency reported 12 outbreaks at 10 long-term care and retirement homes. An outbreak declared Friday at Twin Lakes Terrace Long-Term Care Home in Sarnia includes infections in 12 residents and one staff member and there was a positive case involving a staffer at Twin Lakes Terrace Retirement Home. Village on the St. Clair Retirement Home in Sarnia now has seven infected residents and five staff in an outbreak declared December 30. Outbreaks were also declared at Sarnia's Sumac Lodge and at Petrolia's Fiddick's nursing and retirement homes over the weekend.
There's one school and four workplace outbreaks for a total of 17, down from 20.
Bluewater Health is now reporting 10 COVID-positive patients in hospital.
As of Monday, the hospital is pausing select procedures at both the Petrolia and Sarnia sites and reopening its COVID Unit.
Enhanced visitor restrictions were also put in place earlier this month.
