U of W to operate COVID-19 clinic Friday and Saturday (VIDEO)

International students at the University of Windsor now have a ready option if they're concerned about COVID-19.

The university will run an on-campus clinic on Friday and Saturday, to test students arriving on campus and moving into student residences for COVID-19, as well as international students.

The clinic is open only for those students with appointments, who are asymptomatic.

"We are going above and beyond our student intake protocols by offering on-site testing for the coronavirus," said U of W executive director of student health, counselling, and wellness Mohsan Beg. "We want to take every possible step to mitigate the risk of spreading this disease on campus and in the community."

The clinic is being operated with the guidance of Ontario Health, Windsor Regional Hospital, the U of W Faculty of Nursing, and the school's Facility Services, Information Technology Services, and health and safety staff.

Visitors must first complete a self-assessment via the Safe Lancer app, and bring either an OHIP card for domestic students, or a Greenshield insurance number for international students. Eligible students will have already booked their appointments online and be prescreened upon arrival.

Results will be given to students within three to five days. If a student tests positive, additional instructions will be provided on what they should do next.
