$25K donation supports program at Children's Treatment Centre

A $25,000 donation from the RBC Foundation's youth mental well-being project will support a local program at the Chatham-Kent Children's Treatment Centre (CTC) which helps children and youth with special needs transition into adulthood.

The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent recently accepted the donation and said funds will directly support the CTC's Life Links program.

A media release from the foundation said Life Links staff specifically help children and youth identify their skills and help them to pursue their goals. Those within the program receive help in identifying opportunities within education, volunteerism, and employment, which will eventually lead to them becoming a contributing member of society.

“The Children’s Treatment Centre and Foundation are incredibly excited about RBC Foundation’s continued partnership and support of our Life Links program,” said CTC Executive Director Donna Litwin-Makey. “Grants from organizations like the RBC Foundation are significant to the Centre in that they help support our enhanced programs -- such as Social Work, Recreation and Music Therapy -- that are not covered by core government funding.”

As it stands, the CTC's Life Links program is the only one of its kind in Chatham-Kent that provides these one-on-one services to children and youth with special needs.
