The Windsor-Essex region saw an increase of 73 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
According to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, 26 of Saturday's cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 18 are community-acquired, one is outbreak-related and 28 cases are still under investigation.
As of Saturday, there are now 14,737 confirmed cases in the region, 440 of which are active cases. There were a total of 87 recoveries over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 13,888. Currently, 18 people are hospitalized.
There were zero additional COVID-19 deaths recorded on Saturday with the local death toll remaining at 409.
As of Saturday, there are seven outbreaks across the region - six at various workplaces and one at St. John Vianney Catholic School.
To date, 104,971 residents have gotten their first dose of the vaccine while 12,656 have received both doses.
On Saturday, The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit expanded COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to include residents with certain high-risk health conditions.
In Ontario, provincial health officials logged 4,362 additional cases of the virus on Saturday. The total number of cases in the province is now at 412,745 with 364,353 recoveries and 7,698 deaths.
