If you need to get an in-vehicle road test, the Ontario government says those will start again on Monday.
It anticipates a lot of people will need to get one. It has hired another 167 driver examiners to help cope with the backlog, and in areas with the highest demand, will conduct testing on the weekend.
Last fall, the government announced it was hiring 84 temporary driver examiners.
Resuming road tests is allowed under Phase One of Ontario's three-phase reopening plan with safety protocols in place at DriveTest Centres.
"As more people get vaccinated, and COVID-19 case numbers decline, we are able to safely restart passenger road testing," said Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney. "We have developed a comprehensive plan to clear the backlog of road tests created as a result of COVID-19 restrictions."

Unfortunately, if you had to cancel an appointment, you will not be prioritized. The government blames the backlog, but additional appointments will be available.
All DriveTest customers and staff will have to wear a face mask inside the centre and during the road test. Expect to be screened for symptoms of COVID-19, and customers will also have to leave a contact phone number should they come in contact with anyone who has the virus during their stay.
