Heavy downpours and strong winds are still possible Monday morning in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, but it appears the worst of the storms have now passed by.
Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex Sunday night, but that ended just before 6:30 a.m. Monday.
A storm was reported to have hit Amherstburg just before 9 p.m. and was moving north-east.
The weather agency said large hail up to two centimetres in diameter, wind gusts up to 110 kilometres per hour, and rainfall up to 50 millimetres was possible during the peak of the storm.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that residents take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
