There was no change to Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 caseload on Tuesday.
In its daily update, Lambton Public Health reported that since the start of the pandemic there have been 3,564 confirmed cases of the virus, of which 3,475 have been deemed resolved, unchanged from Monday.
The death toll stands at 62, resulting in 27 active infections.
Bluewater Health had seven COVID-positive patients in hospital, up one from Monday.
Lambton's Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade told Sue Storr on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM) that the numbers have been trending lower, and he hopes that continues.
"We are two weeks out from when people started to be able to do more things and that's the time when you would expect to start seeing some cases go up, we haven't really seen it yet although, it's right at the early phase of that," said Dr. Ranade. "So, we could start to see some more, but we're in good shape and I think when you look at what's going on in the province too, the province seems like it's in much better shape than we used to be a few months ago, those are all positive signs."
Dr. Ranade said we are on track to see 30,000 doses of vaccine administered this month.
"Last week I think we set a record, I think it was about 11,000 doses that we administered," he said. "We are over 105,000 doses in total, like it's really, really picking up steam."
Lambton residents 60 years of age and up, and those who received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on or before May 21, are eligible to book their second appointment.
