Chatham-Kent police say they are investigating hateful graffiti that was discovered at an elementary school over the weekend.
According to police, a swastika and the message "Kill the Jews" was spray-painted onto a wall of the northwest side of Queen Elizabeth II Public School in Chatham.
According to Lambton Kent District School Board officials, the school is in the process of removing the graffiti from the school.
"We understand that this incident has a direct impact on the community and we are committed to ensuring our students and staff feel safe and have a strong sense of belonging within their schools and on school property," said Heather Hughes, a public relations officer for LKDSB. "This incident reiterates the importance of understanding and respecting the human rights of all individuals and our collective work to address and denounce antisemitism and anti-racism in our communities."
Hughes said the school board denounces acts of antisemitism and is supporting the police in their investigation.
The police service is asking anyone with information to contact police or crime stoppers.
