Man charged for playing music too loud

A 28-year-old man accused of consistently playing music too loud multiple times this summer has been charged.

Chatham-Kent police said they responded to nine noise complaints since June involving the same man on Partridge Crescent in Chatham, adding that he has been cautioned and charged under the noise by-law.

When police showed up at his place Tuesday night, they arrested him and charged him with interfering with the lawful use and enjoyment of property.

He was later released pending a future court date.

Tilbury man accused of grabbing a knife during domestic argument

A 55-year-old Tilbury man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly held a kitchen knife in a "threatening manner" while he was arguing with his common-law wife and another man in the home.

Police said they made the arrest after they were called to the residence in Tilbury Tuesday morning.

The accused was charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Man accused of throwing cell phone at his ex-girlfriend

A 44-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and threw a cell phone at her.

Police said they arrested the man after they were called to investigate a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Chatham Tuesday night.

The accused was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon in connection with that incident. Officers said the man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for criminal harassment and assault.

The accused was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Charges laid after three crashes in CK

Chatham-Kent police were kept busy responding to a trio of collisions in Chatham on Tuesday.

Police said the first one was a two-vehicle collision on St. Clair Street between Wiltshire Drive and McFarlane Avenue in Chatham at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported and the damage was estimated at $10,000. A 40-year-old Pain Court woman was charged with making an unsafe turn.

The second crash was on St. Clair Street in Chatham at around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers say a local man hit an unmarked police cruiser, adding that no injuries were reported there either. The damage was estimated at $1,500 and a 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with making an unsafe lane change.

The third crash involved a car and a bicycle on Park Avenue West in Chatham at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported. The driver of the car was charged with making an unsafe start and the cyclist was charged with riding his bike on the sidewalk.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
