Man charged with historic domestic violence offences
A 34-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly assaulted a woman he was in a relationship with.
Police said they made the arrest after receiving information on Wednesday about some historical domestic violence at a residence in Chatham.
Officers said they learned that there had been multiple incidents of domestic violence during the man's relationship with the woman.
As a result, the man was charged with two counts each of assault, assault causing bodily harm, and sexual assault. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic stop ends with a pair of arrests
A traffic stop on Bruinsma Avenue in Wallaceburg Wednesday night ended with a pair of arrests.
Police said the first person they arrested was a 42-year-old man from Cedar Springs who was allegedly caught in the driver's seat of a vehicle even though he had been ordered not to do so.
He was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and later released pending a future court date.
The man's passenger was also arrested.
Police said a 51-year-old man of no fixed address who was also in the vehicle at the time was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions for breaching his curfew. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Charges laid after two crashes in Chatham
Two people are facing charges after two separate crashes that both took place in Chatham on Wednesday.
Police said they were called to a two-vehicle crash on Lacroix Street near Richmond Street Wednesday morning and later charged a 56-year-old McGregor woman with making an unsafe left turn.
The damage was estimated at $30,000 but no injuries were reported.
In a separate incident Wednesday night, officers were able to track down a driver who caused a crash on William Street near King Street in Chatham and then took off.
Police said no one was hurt and the driver at fault was charged with failing to report a collision and failing to remain at the scene.
