A Leamington councillor has been nominated to represent the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party in the riding of Chatham-Kent-Leamington in the upcoming provincial election.
Trevor Jones is a lifelong resident of Chatham-Kent-Leamington and was appointed as a Leamington councillor on December 8, 2020 to replace the late John Jacobs.
He has also served as a police officer and worked with service groups and the agricultural community. Jones was also a business executive who advocated for Ontario's agricultural sector.
“I am incredibly honoured to join Doug Ford and his PC team ahead of the next provincial election,” said Jones.
The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party calls Jones passionate about his community and said he has a desire to support innovation and food security.
“We are pleased to welcome Trevor to our PC team ahead of the next election,” said Brian Patterson, President of the Ontario PC Party. “He will make a great MPP and representative for Chatham-Kent-Leamington at Queen’s Park.”
Jones takes the place of MPP Rick Nicholls as the PC candidate. Nicholls was booted out of the PC caucus in August for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Ontario election is scheduled for June 2, 2022.
