Two search warrants in Chatham turn up cocaine, fentanyl

Seven people are facing drug trafficking charges after Chatham-Kent police carried out a pair of drug busts in Chatham on Wednesday.

Police said they found cocaine, cash, scales, and multiple cell phones while they were executing the first search warrant. The cocaine they seized had an estimated street value of $20,000.

A 31-year-old Chatham man -- who was not publicly identified by police -- was arrested and charged with one count of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking along with two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Three other Chatham residents -- 23-year-old Javana Wright-Morgan, 50-year-old Geraldine Gibson, and 51-year-old Lois Morgan -- and 24-year-old Desmond Rush from Raleigh Township were also arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking in connection with the case. All four were later released with a future court date.

Police said the second search warrant they executed in Chatham on Wednesday turned up about $1,800 worth of fentanyl along with some scales and multiple cell phones.

Two people were arrested in connection with that search -- 21-year-old Madison McDougall and 30-year-old Kevin Collier, both from Chatham.

They were both charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking and were later released with a future court date.

None of the charges listed above have been proven in court as of the time of publication.
