Man accused of trying to talk to woman he wasn't supposed to

A 24-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly tried to start a conversation with a woman he had been banned from talking to.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was released from court on March 21 with conditions, one of which was that he was not supposed to speak to a specific woman.

Police said despite that, the man allegedly saw the woman walking on St. Clair Street at around 11 p.m. Thursday and tried to have a conversation with her.

Officers said they later found the man and arrested him for one count of failing to comply with his release conditions.

The accused was taken back to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.
