Chatham-Kent was well-represented at the OFSAA track and field championship in Toronto over the weekend.
Jeremiah Zomerman and Julia VanMinnen from Chatham Christian School, who are both in Grade 9, each took home a silver medal in high jump.
Zomerman cleared the bar at a personal best of 1.80 metres in the boys' novice high jump while VanMinnen topped out at a personal best of 1.58 metres in the girls' novice high jump.
Zomerman also competed in long jump, finishing with a personal best of 5.42 metres, placing 15th in that event.
Meantime, Jeremy vandenBoorn of the Ursuline Lancers also came away with a couple of medals, winning bronze in the senior boys’ discus (45.76 metres) and shot put (15.07 metres).
He also competed in the senior boys' javelin, placing 10th with a throw of 46.92.
A couple of other athletes from Chatham-Kent finished just off the podium.
Gavin Meriano from Ursuline College finished fourth in the junior boys' 400 metre event with a time of 52.24 seconds. Anna Kistulinec of Blenheim finished fifth in the girls' senior pole vault at 3.10 metres.
The OFSAA track and field finals took place from Thursday, June 2 to Saturday, June 4.
