Police happen upon wanted man during trespassing investigation

A traffic stop connected with a trespassing investigation in Chatham has led to multiple charges being laid.

Chatham-Kent police were called about the trespasser at a local store around 1 p.m. on Friday. Officers located a suspect during a traffic stop and gave him a warning.

During that stop one of the passengers in the vehicle caught the attention of police. He gave a fake name, but was quickly identified and turned out to be wanted by police. He was arrested.

A search of the man turned up a quantity of stolen property, police said.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with failing to comply with a release order, obstructing police and possession of stolen property under $5,000. ------

Woman has future court date after being arrested on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent police located a 41-year-old Tilbury woman around 8:30 p.m. on Friday that they say was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The warrant issued for the woman was for one count of mischief under $5,000.

She was taken to police headquarters where she was later released with a future court date. ------

Trio arrested for failing to attend court

Over a 24 hour period, Chatham-Kent police picked up three people who were each wanted for allegedly failing to attend court.

A 41-year-old Wallaceburg man, 39-year-old Chatham man, and 41-year-old Wallaceburg woman were taken into police custody on Friday.

No additional charges were laid against the trio and each was released with a future court date, police said.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
