Alert citizen reports impaired driver

A call from a concerned citizen is to thank for alerting police to an allegedly drunk driver in Dresden who passed out behind the wheel.

Around 9 p.m. Saturday, police got a call from a passerby who saw a vehicle pull to the side of the road on North Street. The driver appeared unresponsive.

Police said the man had allegedly been drinking alcohol and had pulled over to sleep.

After failing a breathalyzer, the man was taken to police headquarters for breath tests where he was charged with driving over the legal limit.

The 59-year-old was also issued a 90-day licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for a week. He was eventually released from custody with a future court date.
