Busy weekend for CK firefighters

No serious injuries are being reported after four fires broke out across Chatham-Kent over the weekend.

On Saturday, several fire stations were called to a house fire in Pain Court on Pain Court Line near Winter Line Road.

Minor injuries were reported, and two occupants were transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical care.

The cause of the Pain Court fire is listed as undetermined, and the estimated loss is $500,000.

Meanwhile, fire stations in Chatham were kept busy throughout the weekend as well and responded to a trio of separate structure fires in the Chatham area.

On Friday, firefighters were called to a deck fire on King Street West near Lacroix Street.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, another deck fire was reported on De Graeve Drive near Sheldon Avenue. Just three hours later, firefighters also responded to a garage fire on McNaughton Avenue between St. Clair Street and Prince Albert Road.

According to CK Fire, no injuries were reported for all three incidents.

"Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue would like to take this time to remind all Chatham-Kent residents about the importance of having working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes," Public Educator Whitney Burk said through a media release. "Working alarms provide a warning for you and your family to safely get out of your home should an emergency occur."
