Applications now accepted for the Jonathan Daniel Stone fund

Chatham-Kent families with children living with autism and other diverse disabilities can apply for some extra funding.

Community Living Chatham-Kent is now accepting applications for the Jonathan Daniel Stone fund.

The fund was created by Jonathan Daniel Stone’s family to celebrate his life. He had autism and passed away suddenly at home at the age of 11 in 2013.

Community Living Spokesperson Nicole Roeszler said the fund can be used to support initiatives to assist children and their families who have been diagnosed with autism or other diverse disabilities.

There will be two recipients awarded $1,500 each.

Families can use the money for recreational activities, educational workshops for parents and siblings, advocacy, vocation and life skills development, assistive devices or equipment that promote and facilitate learning or communication.

Applications will be accepted up to December 8.

In order to apply, the applicant must live in Chatham-Kent and the request must benefit children, up to 18 years of aged, who have been diagnosed with autism or other disability.

Residents can find the application form here.

Applications can be dropped off in person at 650 Riverview Drive in Chatham or be submitted electronically to nroeszler@clc-k.ca.
