Chatham-Kent fire crews have had a busy start to the week, responding to two different fires in the municipality early Monday morning.
The first call came in at around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters from Stations #1 and #2 were called to a report of a dumpster fire on Richmond Street in Chatham and by the time they arrived, the fire had already spread to the soffit and fascia of City Electrical Supply.
Crews reportedly had to open the roof of the building to stop the fire from spreading further and managed to save an estimated $1.5 million in property.
The damage was estimated at $100,000 and no injuries were reported.
The second fire was called in just after 5 a.m. in the Dresden-area.
CK fire officials said crews from Station #5 (Chatham North), Station #6 (Dresden), and a tanker from Station #8 (Thamesville) all responded to the home on Croton Line.
That fire is currently under investigation.
No injuries were reported there, but the initial damage estimate came in at $250,000.
