Man charged with impaired driving
A call about a suspicious vehicle has led to an impaired driving charge for a 60-year-old Merlin man.
Just after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to Seventh Line West in Raleigh Township for a suspicious vehicle. A vehicle was parked in the parking lot of a business that has experienced thefts in recent months.
Officers arrived on the scene and located a lone male inside. Police believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
As a result, the man was charged with driving over the legal limit.
He was released on conditions and given a future court date.

CK resident falls victim to grandparent scam
Chatham-Kent police are investigating yet another incident of a "grandparent scam" locally.
Earlier this week, police responded to a fraud complaint in Howard Township.
Through investigation, police learned the victim received a call from someone posing as their grandson.
According to police, the "grandson" advised he and his friends were stopped by the police while driving, and the officer arrested him after a gun and drugs were found in the car.
The fraudster asked the victim for a significant amount of money to bail him out of jail. The victim was also told there was a "gag order" in place, which prohibited them from telling anyone about the incident.
The victim wired the money to the "grandson,” however police said it didn't end there.
The scammer continued to contact the victim with other stories and requests for more money.
Police continue to investigate.

Woman sought in alleged furniture store theft
Chatham-Kent police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a woman in relation to a theft investigation.
The theft occurred on the morning of November 18 at Devos Furniture on King Street West in Chatham.

Man arrested on warrant
Just after noon on Thursday, Chatham-Kent police received a call from the Sarnia Police Service advising they had arrested the man on an outstanding warrant held by CKPS.
Arrangements were made to transport the man from Sarnia to Chatham.
As a result, the 43-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested for failing to attend court and held pending a bail hearing.
