CP Holiday Train delights Chatham crowd

After a two-year hiatus, the CP Holiday Train arrived in Chatham to the delight of many children and children at heart.

A large crowd of about 300 showed up behind the John Bradley Convention Centre on Thursday to welcome the train.

The half hour stop still has a WOW! factor for many who were there to see the train, enjoy the hot chocolate, and be with friends and family.

Young Hudson said the Chatham train stop gets him in the Christmas spirit.

"My favourite part about this is just being here and having this experience," said Hudson.

Jodi came from Comber with her children and said the family enjoys the train stop every year.

"I like the can drive and I like the entertainment and it brings us all together," Jodi said.

Young Abigail said the train stop is a good time.

"You're together with your friends and you get to see the train and all that stuff," said Abigail.

These students from Winston Churchill School in Chatham love trains, Santa, and Christmas and one of them never wants to lose the holiday feeling.

"To see the train is so much fun. I just came to see Santa. I like trains and I really like Christmas. So, I want to stay here forever," they said.

Their teacher Heather Mulligan said she loves the energy at the event.

Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff welcomed the train.

The Outreach for Hunger food bank received a $4,500 cheque from Canadian Pacific.

Country singers Lindsay Ell and Jo Jo Mason performed for the jubilant crowd.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
