CKHA Foundation 50/50 jackpot rising fast

There are just 29 days to go until one lucky person takes home the grand prize in the Igniting Healthcare 50/50.

At last check, the jackpot was over $108,000, which is ahead of where it was at the same time last year.

New this year are three early bird draws, which have boosted ticket sales for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF).

"Tickets are really going very, very well," said Mary Lou Crowley, President and CEO of CKHAF. "Our first early bird prize was for $1,000, and our next early bird prize is actually this Friday, June the 16th, and it will be a Broil King Keg Smoker, donated by Home Hardware Building Centre."

The third and final early bird draw on Friday, June 30 is for a Pelican kayak from Canadian Tire in Wallaceburg.

This year, all of the money raised is going to help purchase a new Sterrad Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA).

"That's to sterilize medical equipment, which is very, very important as we know coming through COVID," said Crowley. "So yes, I think people can really relate, and it's a great opportunity to support CKHA in one of the highest priority needs that they have."

Since they started doing 50/50 draws, the CKHAF has raised over $1 million to support the highest priority needs at the CKHA. Last year's winner took home $126,840.

Crowley said it's very easy to buy tickets.

"Easiest way is to visit our website at www.ignite5050.ca, pop into the office at 9 Ursuline Avenue, or take a look on our website. We're all over Chatham-Kent selling in-person."

The cost is 10 numbers for $10, 60 for $20, 200 for $50 or 350 for $75. Tickets can only be purchased by Ontario residents over 18 years of age.

The grand prize draw will take place on Wednesday, July 12 at 1 p.m.
