More than 580,000 beds recalled over safety hazard

A recall notice has been issued for over half a million beds because they can break or collapse while in use.

The impacted products include several different models and sizes of low-profile beds from Home Design, Inc. The beds were sold at online retailers like Wayfair.

According to Health Canada, the company has received reports of beds breaking, sagging, or collapsing during use, posing an injury risk when used.

As of January 8, the company has received 22 reports of beds failing and four reports of injuries in Canada.

There have also been 126 reports of beds failing and 32 injuries in the United States.

The recalled beds, which were manufactured in Malaysia, cover about 56,000 units sold in Canada between July 2018 and November 2023. Over 527,000 units were also sold in the U.S.

A full list of products can be viewed at Health Canada's website.

Customers are urged to stop using them immediately and contact the company for free replacement slats and side rails.
