Cornhole tournament to benefit CK Hospice

Excitement is winding up for the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation to host its first-ever cornhole tournament fundraiser.

Cornhole for Hospice is set to take place on Saturday, March 2 at the Everest Convention Centre in Chatham.

The tournament will see more than 30 teams from across the region compete for prizes while raising money for end-of-life care.

“Cornhole for Hospice brings a favourite summer past-time indoors for a day of fun and fundraising," said Special Events Committee Chair Ginny Hawken.

The event will be operated by CK Dirty Birds Cornhole League and will be open to players of all abilities. Teams will compete in a random round-robin with a guarantee of at least three games to start before being split into two brackets based on ability.

After the round-robin, teams will face off in a single elimination tournament where the winning team of each bracket will receive a cash prize.

"To register, teams of two must collect a minimum of $300 in pledges or donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation," said Hawken. "For every $100 in pledges collected, players will receive a ballot to be entered into a draw to win customized cornhole boards."

The event also includes a 50/50 raffle with a jackpot of up to $12,500.

Tickets will be available from the Hospice Foundation and committee members leading up to the fundraiser and on-site during the Cornhole tournament.

Registration is now open at www.cornholeforhospiceck.com.

Teams are encouraged to register and start collecting pledges quickly as space in the tournament is limited.
