The Ontario Federation of All-Terrain Vehicle Clubs (OFATV) has teamed up with a Canadian insurance giant to enhance safety and education for ATV riders in rural parts of the province.
The OFATV announced the strategic collaboration with Co-operators Insurance on Tuesday.
“This collaboration will help us reach more riders and provide them with the necessary tools and knowledge to ride safely," OFATV Executive Director Shari Black said in a statement. "ATV riding is not just a fun activity but is also essential for many individuals who rely on these machines for work and transportation, particularly in rural areas.”
The partnership comes as the OPP have reported a 125 per cent increase in fatal ATV collisions so far this year. Alcohol and drug use was a factor in one third of the deadly collisions and more than half of those killed were not wearing a helmet.
“Co-operators is deeply invested in rural communities, supporting small businesses and local growth, which aligns with our broader mission to foster safe and thriving communities," said Guy Laurin, Co-operators product owner for recreational vehicles. "We look forward to working with OFATV to enhance safety education and awareness for all ATV enthusiasts in Ontario.”
Co-operators currently offers special coverage options and discounts, as well as bundle incentives for recreational vehicle owners.
