Canadian parents are being told to check their children's stuffed animal collection for a certain plush toy that may pose a choking risk.
Health Canada has recalled the elephant, giraffe, lion, tiger, and panda plush toys from Mother and Baby Plush Toys. The Chinese-made stuffies do not meet toy regulations under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act as the hard plastic eyes can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled plush toys and return to the place of purchase for a refund," Health Canada said.
The affected toys can be identified by the item number P273585 and universal product code (UPC) 8140239986. They were sold in Canada between May 2023 and December 2024.
As of December 16, Chantia Sales, the company that imported the toy, has not received any reports of injuries.
