Police respond to several collisions in CK amid snowy, slippery conditions

A handful of crashes across Chatham-Kent in snowy conditions kept police busy on the road Thursday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said as of 8 a.m. Thursday, they had been called to three separate crashes: a two-vehicle collision on Grand Avenue West in Chatham, a single-vehicle crash at 3rd Concession Line and Coatsworth Road, and a vehicle in the ditch on Four Rod Road.

Ontario Provincial Police with the Chatham Detachment confirmed that they were also called to a very minor collision on Highway 40 near Countryview Line involving a school bus that was occupied by students at the time.

No injuries were reported as a result of that crash and no road closures were initiated.

The investigation is ongoing.

OPP also sent out a message on social media shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday saying that they were called to a single-vehicle collision on the westbound Highway 401 near Graham Road (Exit 137 / West Lorne). No injuries were reported, but police said one lane was closed as a result of the crash.

Police are urging drivers to slow down and to adjust their driving behaviours according to the conditions.

A caller to the CK News Today newsroom also reported experiencing slowdowns on Highway 2 / Queens Line between Chatham and Tilbury because of poor road conditions.
