Change coming to downtown Chatham dining

A popular downtown Chatham restaurant is closing.

The Chilled Cork located at Retro Suites Hotel has announced it's closing on February 28, 2025, but a new restaurant will be replacing it.

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that the Chilled Cork will be closing its doors at 22 William Street as of February 28, 2025. It has been an incredible ride with joy, excitement, challenges, and memories made that will last a lifetime," shared the Chilled Cork on social media. "To our incredible guests and supporters, thank you. Your trust in our team has been the driving force behind every step. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for ongoing services, events, and dining experiences."

The restaurant is also thanking its team for a great ride.

"To our dedicated team...your passion, creativity, loyalty, and hard work have been at the core of this journey. We are grateful for every moment," the restaurant said.

The restaurant noted that Chilled Cork gift cards will only be accepted until February 28, 2025, and after that date, they will no longer be valid.

Retro Suites Hotel later announced Suite 46 will be the new restaurant replacing Chilled Cork.

The new owners said they are thrilled to begin this new chapter and look forward to sharing the journey with the community.

They noted the mission is to create a space that is locally rooted while offering a menu with global influences.

"By focusing on seasonally-driven, locally-sourced ingredients and providing a creative twist on comfort food, Suite 46 aims to offer a dining experience that is both memorable and personal," said the owners of Suite 46. "Whether you’re a hotel guest seeking a relaxing meal or a local resident looking for a special evening, every detail is designed to make your time with us meaningful."

Suite 46 will take over the space on March 1, 2025 to begin renovations.
