Senior CK manager announces retirement after 33 years of service

The General Manager of Corporate Services and Chief Human Resource Officer for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is retiring.

Cathy Hoffman has announced her retirement after 33 years of municipal service.

Chatham-Kent Manager of Corporate Communications Eric Labadie said her last day in office will be April 30, 2025.

Hoffman began her career at the City of Chatham in 1992 with the Social Services department and, following amalgamation in 1998, transitioned into the Manager of Recruitment, Training, and Development.

She became Director of Human Resources in 2003 and in December 2017, took on her current role as General Manager of Corporate Services and Chief Human Resource Officer.

CK Chief Administrative Officer Michael Duben said Hoffman provided strategic leadership and unwavering commitment to best serve the people of Chatham-Kent.

“Cathy has played a vital role in shaping our organization’s culture, mentoring countless colleagues, and championing initiatives that have strengthened our workforce,” said Duben. “Her leadership, knowledge, and passion for public service will be deeply missed. Cathy’s impact on the Municipality of Chatham-Kent has been nothing short of profound and she will be leaving a legacy of leadership that will not be soon forgotten.”

The municipality noted Hoffman has been an integral part of numerous committees through her career, both within the municipality and externally, making significant contributions to policy development, workforce planning, and organizational excellence.

“It has been a true privilege to spend so many years working alongside great colleagues who care deeply about making a difference in our community,” Hoffman said. “I am grateful beyond words for the opportunities I had and even more excited to see all the ways our municipal team will eclipse the accomplishments that I got to be a part of.”

According to the municipality, Hoffman's retirement will facilitate the restructuring of the senior management team to better serve the municipality and the community, including hiring a new Deputy Chief Administrative Officer at no extra cost.
