Lakeshore to open Lighthouse Cove golf cart registration Monday

The Municipality of Lakeshore is moving straight ahead with golf carts in the Lighthouse Cove area.

Residents of the neighbourhood interested in taking advantage of the new pilot program are invited to a registration event on Monday at the Lighthouse Cove Lions Community Park on Quenneville Drive.

"With warm weather just around the corner, I know many in Lighthouse Cove are eager to hit the road in their golf carts," said Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey. "We hope everyone gets a chance to come to the park to complete their registration."

The registration runs Monday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

To register, Lighthouse Cove residents will need the following.

  • A description of the golf cart.

  • A photo of the front and back of the golf cart.

  • A valid A, B, C, D, E, F, or G (full) Ontario driver’s licence (or out-of-province equivalent).

  • Confirmation that the golf cart registration fee of $84.75, including HST, has been paid.

  • Proof of insurance for use on municipal roads for the Golf Cart Pilot project in Lighthouse Cove.

Proper safety equipment must be installed, including a steering wheel, service brakes and lights; parking or emergency brakes, rearview mirror, horn, daytime running lights, turn signals, reflectors, and tires in good condition.

Drivers may only operate the vehicles from April 1 to November 30. Golf carts may only be driven on roads with a maximum speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour and with a slow-vehicle sign on the rear.

Complete information on the golf cart pilot project can be found on the Municipality's official website.
