Suspect arrested after attempted robbery

A 51-year-old man is facing a pair of charges after he allegedly tried to rob someone outside of the bus station in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they got a call from someone shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday who told officers that he had been approached by a suspect who demanded money while holding an object.

The suspect also allegedly threatened to harm the caller if he did not comply.

No injuries were reported and police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested a 51-year-old man who matched the suspect description.

He was charged with robbery with a weapon and uttering threats before he was released with a future court date.

Suspect turns himself in after reported break-in

A 56-year-old Chatham man is facing a trio of charges after he allegedly broke into someone's residence in Chatham early Thursday morning.

Police said they got the report shortly after 1:30 a.m., adding that the complainant also reported having ongoing issues with the person who broke into his home.

Officers were able to identify the accused by reviewing some video surveillance and learned he had also reportedly tried to break into the complainant's home on June 28.

The man police arrested in the case was charged with criminal harassment, being unlawfully in a dwelling, and trespassing at night.

He was arrested later in the day when he turned himself in at CK police headquarters and was later released with a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
