Local residents and farmers who are interested in conservation will be hitting the road in September.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) is hosting their annual Cultivating Conservation Tour on Friday, September 5.
"So this is actually our fifth annual event, so it's going to be a little bit extra special this year," said Amanda Doucette, Agricultural Outreach and Communications Technician with the LTVCA. "We'll be hitting the road for a bus tour with stops at five different locations in the Western Lower Thames Valley region."
The bus will leave Two Creeks Conservation Area in Wheatley at 2 p.m. and get back at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow.
"We switch locations every year, we try and mix it up between the Western and the Eastern end of our region. We really just visit project sites from our agriculture team or our stewardship team, and see all the fun work that everybody's been up to," said Doucette.
The LTCVA is still deciding which five projects they will visit, but Doucette added that the tour is great way for residents and farmers to get ideas, and see what projects the LTVCA has been working on.
"This tour is an amazing opportunity to kind of see what we're up to you at the LTVCA. But also for farmers or rural landowners to start gathering some ideas of the different kinds of projects that they can do to their property," said Doucette. "If you are a farmer or a rural landowner, it will give you some ideas for the next project. Whether that be tree planting, erosion control, different cover crops that you can plant on your farm. So really just kind of keep up with the LTVCA, and see what's going on in the region."
The tour is free, but registration is required as seating is limited. For more information, click here.
