Broccoli recalled for salmonella concerns

Broccoli florets sold under the Your Fresh Market brand are being pulled from store shelves in Ontario

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled the broccoli in six provinces because it might be contaminated with Salmonella.

The 907-gram bags have a best-before date of November 26, 2025, a UPC of 6 27735 27054 8, and a lot number of 25318.

If you have the recalled product, do not eat it. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but can still make you sick.

No illnesses have been reported, but the CFIA says to throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund.

The broccoli was also sold in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.

Salmonella poisoning can cause fever, vomiting and diarrhea, while long-term complications can lead to severe arthritis. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.
