Heavy, blowing snow expected overnight

A test of winter driving skills is expected overnight as heavy snowfall is expected.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex areas on Tuesday afternoon.

The weather agency predicts that the region could see nearly 10 centimetres of snow accumulate by Wednesday morning. The snow, which is expected to begin late Tuesday night, is courtesy of an Alberta clipper.

"The snow is expected to taper to rain showers or flurries from southwest to northeast Wednesday," the statement said.

Travel may be hazardous during this time. People are advised to give themselves extra time to get where they're going, or avoid travel if possible.
