Canada Earns Olympic Basketball Berth

Canada's women's national team has won the FIBA Americas Championship and a spot in the 2016 Summer Olympics with a 82-66 victory over Cuba.

Windsor-native Miah-Marie Langlois had a full statline, earning a near double-double with 11 points and 8 assists. The University of Windsor product finished second throughout the tournament in assists, averaging 5.8/game.

Langlois also caught the attention from national basketball experts, including Sportsnet's Michael Grange.

Tim and Sid Cohost Tim McCallef was also quick to remind followers about the University of Windsor's past accomplishments.

Chatham-Kent-born Miranda Ayim also made an impact. While the PF started off slow, she ended with 11 points, adding a key block that helped shift momentum Canada's way early in the second half.

Canada's women's squad now knows it will head to the Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The men's national team will try to do the same starting August 29.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
