Junior Hockey Wrap Up - October 9, 2016

Cale Allen had the go-ahead goal for the LaSalle Vipers, which turned out to be the winner in a 3-2 contest with the London Nationals at the Vollmer Complex.

Eli Billing was the winning goaltender for the Vipers, stopping 29 of the Nationals' 31 shots.

The scoring would be opened by London roughly halfway into the first period with a shorthanded goal from Ryan Hopkins.  The Vipers would counter over two minutes later with a power-play goal from Nathan Savage.    LaSalle would take the lead in the second period as Maddux Rychel found the net at 7:08, but the Nationals would even things up again later in the second stanza on a Dawson Cook goal.  Allen's game winner for the Vipers was scored at 9:53 in the third.

It was the seventh straight win for the Vipers after they dropped their first four to start the season.  The Leamington Flyers will play at the Vollmer Complex Wednesday night.  London will host St. Marys that same evening.

Curtis Prymack scored two goals as the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals shut out the Mooretown Flags 7-0 Sunday night at the Libro Centre.

Luke Gangnon added three assists to the onslaught.  Catalin Morin turned away all 20 Mooretown shots between the pipes.

Prymack kicked the scoring off with his first goal just 19 seconds into the first period.  Austin Jennings would make the score 2-0 later in the period on an Austin Jennings score.  Prymack's second goal came on the power play with 16:30 gone in the first, and Travis Campbell scored on the powerplay 57 seconds later to push the Admirals' score to 4-0 at first intermission.

Amherstburg added two goals in the second period, from Lucas Bersuk and Zack Yott.  Caleb Paquette's third period goal completed the scoring.

Mooretown goalie Nolan Hakr allowed four goals before being pulled after the first period.  Jake Wilkins allowed three more goals in the second and third periods.

The Admirals travel to Petrolia Thursday night, before meeting the Flags for a rematch in Mooretown Saturday night.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
