In the NHL -- the Detroit Red Wings lost 2-1 in overtime to the Florida Panthers. The Wings also lost Justin Abdelkader, who left in the first period after appearing to hurt his right leg.

Elsewhere on the ice -- Claude Giroux's second goal of the game proved to be the overtime winner as Philadelphia beat Ottawa 3-2 -- the Edmonton Oilers got past the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 -- Anaheim downed the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 -- the Penguins beat Dallas 6-2 -- and the Buffalo Sabres topped the Rangers 4-3.

In the NFL -- the Dallas Cowboys have their longest single-season winning streak in franchise history. Dez Bryant caught the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, helping Dallas win its 11th straight game with a 17-15 victory over Minnesota in the NFL's Thursday nighter.

More football news -- the New England Patriots will have to play the rest of the 2016 season without star tight end Rob Gronkowski. He is set to undergo what is expected to be season-ending back surgery today after suffering an injury in a game against the New York Jets on Sunday.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
