Environment Canada issued a wind warning for all of southwestern Ontario, including London and Middlesex County on Monday.
The weather agency says a low pressure system dragged a cold front across the region Monday afternoon, bringing intense winds and dropping temperatures. Sustained wind speeds of 60 to 70 km/h with frequent gusts of 90 to 100 km/h began in the mid-afternoon.
That was enough to cause damage to trees and multiple power outages.
As of Monday afternoon, reports were already coming in about downed trees in London, including one that caused damage to Donahue Funeral Home at Waterloo St. and King St.

The wind also knocked over a transport truck on Plank Line (Hwy. 19) between Salford Rd. and McBeth Rd. near Ingersoll, forcing the closure of the road. No injuries were reported.
The winds slowed down Monday night, and the warning was lifted.
