Mayor "Shares Concerns" About Cosby

Despite the threat of protests, the Bill Cosby show at Budweiser Gardens will go on.

The comedian, who faces allegations of sexual assault from several women, is set to perform at the facility on January 8.

On Tuesday, Mayor Matt Brown addressed the concerns of those who don't want Cosby's performance to go ahead.

In a brief statement released to the media, Brown says,

"I understand that many people across our community and across North America have strong concerns about the performance at Budweiser Gardens. I share those concerns. I have looked into it and learned, as is the case with several other entertainment venues in Ontario, the promoter or operator is responsible for its contracts with those scheduled to perform and only they can cancel a show."

When calls for the show to be cancelled first emerged, Budweiser Gardens General Manager Brian Ohl said it was something that, contractually, there were not able to do.

Protesters are planning to gather outside the arena the night of the show.
