Dog Park Cleanup Underway

London's dog parks will soon be ready for the city's four legged friends.

The London Dog Owner Association, a group made completely of volunteers, is in the midst of its annual spring cleanup of the city's dog parks, ridding them of dead trees, branches, debris, and dog leftovers.

Over the past four years, the Dog Owners Association has tried the expand the number of off-leash parks in the city.

"We need more parks for the volume of dogs we have in London," says Association President Leslie Pidlubny. "All of the parks we have now are far to reach for dog owners who live in the downtown area."

The Dog Owners Association works with the city on expantion plans, but Pidlubny says they're frustrated that city staff have not been able to pinpoint a suitable location for a fourth park.

"We had one location that we thought might work, but the land turned out to be too wet, so unfortunately that location is gone," says Pidlubny. "We're dissapointed because we've been promising the public another park for years but a lot of the planning isn't going our way."

London's three off-leash dog parks are located in Stoney Creek, Springbank, and Pottersburg parks.
